ABOUT THESE RESOURCES
When I was a developing gymnast back in the 70's both the AAU & USGF (fore-runner of USA Gymnastics) provided illustrations for the compulsory exercises for each event... So too did the IOC (International Olympic Committee) for the Olympic compulsory exercises. These materials were invaluable for SEEING desired technique and TAKING these same materials into the practice facility. My compulsory book (yes, it was a small book) was written in, and WELL used during every workout session. Text alone is simply not capable of conveying some information. I believe that "a picture IS worth a thousand words." AND that sequence illustrations are valued at at least 10,000! The USAG 2013-2016 Men's Compulsory DVD is wonderful - but it has limitations for use in practice. Often sequence drawings are just better... and hardcopy still has advantages over digtal media.

As a former USGF age group (Baton Rouge Gym Club), high school (Baton Rouge High Magnet School - 1976-1979), College/University coach (LSU assistant - 1976, Jacksonville State - 1979-81, University of Georgia - 1981-1985) , NGJA Judge (1973-1986), and then instructor of coaching techniques and biomechanics courses, and the last fourteen - director of faculty technology development at Georgia Southern University. I have - over the years, amassed a lot of resources, skills, and experiences that I've decided to share with programs outside of East Coast Gymnastics (Merritt Island, FL) where I volunteer. I've spent over one-thousand hours over the last year illustrating the 2013-2016 men's compulsories. I value your input for additional technical suggestions including progressions, drills, biomechanical tips and your interest in the same.
